Wedge

When Streamlight makes products as good as the Wedge, its hard to justify spending money on the much more expensive competition. I have been carrying a Wedge for a little over five years now without a single complaint. While it may lack some of the features that the competition has, it works every time I turn it on.

The need for a small pocket EDC light started when I moved into an area of town with very little light. When night falls in my neighborhood, its dark. If you don’t have an EDC flashlight you will find yourself constantly reaching for your cellphone light when taking out the trash or going for a walk. The first time I came across a Wedge was at a team training. One of my buddies handed me his Streamlight Wedge to walk through a dark shoot house. I quickly fell in love with the controls and slim form factor. After a failed attempt at stealing his, I quickly ordered one on Amazon.

I stared carrying the Wedge daily and quickly realized how much I was using it. It has two modes, low and high power. There is an LED on the switch to that indicates charge level as soon as you turn it on. The charge port is a USB type C which is an absolute must for me. After the Wedge earned my trust, I began carrying it on duty. The Wedge serves as a backup duty light and has often been handed to other officers in need of a light. The body of the light really started to take a beating once I was carrying it both on and off duty. Although she looks rough, the light has never failed me in any way. Streamlight advertises that the light will run for three hours on its low setting and I think that is a conservative number.
